BASE DESCRIPTION

Hey guys, I’m Dark Barbarian, and welcome back to another post.

In this post, we’re building a brand-new Town Hall 5 Hybrid Base. Just like my other hybrid layouts, this base is designed to help you protect your loot while also maintaining your trophies. And as always, make sure you stick around for the Base Analysis section. Understanding why each building is placed where it is will help you get the most out of the layout instead of simply copying it.

let’s jump straight into the Base Analysis.

First of all, the Town Hall is positioned right in the center of the base.

This is one of the most important principles of a hybrid base because the Town Hall contains a decent amount of loot and is also worth one star. By placing it in the core, attackers must break through multiple layers of defenses before reaching it, making it significantly harder to secure an easy star.

At Town Hall 5, the three most important defenses are the Mortar, Wizard Tower, and Air Defense, and that’s exactly why we’ve placed them near the center of the base where they receive maximum protection.

Let’s start with the Mortar.

The Mortar is positioned in the lower central compartment where its range covers a large portion of the layout. This allows it to deal splash damage to large groups of troops such as Barbarians, Archers, Goblins, and GiBARCH armies before they can make significant progress through the base.

Next, we have the Wizard Tower.

Being the only splash-damage defense at TH5 that can target both air and ground troops, the Wizard Tower is extremely valuable. Its placement in the core allows it to support surrounding defenses while protecting key structures like the Town Hall and Storages. This makes it very effective against both Balloon attacks and large groups of ground troops.

Then we have the Air Defense.

The Air Defense has a range that covers most of the base and serves as the primary counter to air attacks. At Town Hall 5, a single shot from the Air Defense can remove nearly ninety percent of a Balloon’s health. Combined with the Archer Towers, it creates a very strong defense against Mass Balloon strategies.

Now some players might think about taking down the Air Defense using Lightning Spells before launching Balloons.

However, at Town Hall 5, attackers can only bring two Lightning Spells, and their combined damage isn’t enough to destroy major defenses like the Air Defense or Wizard Tower.

Moving on to the Archer Towers.

The Archer Towers are positioned in separate compartments around the core, allowing their ranges to overlap and cover nearly the entire base.

This setup creates strong defensive coverage against both air and ground troops while also ensuring that attackers can’t eliminate multiple Archer Towers with a single push from one side.

The Cannons occupy the remaining defensive compartments and provide excellent protection against ground troops.

Their placement creates balanced defensive coverage on all sides of the base, preventing attackers from finding an obvious weak spot. Together with the Archer Towers, they form a solid defensive ring around the core.

I’ve also placed the storages apart from one another. Grouping all storages together makes it easy for an attacker to take them all out at once.

By spreading them out, the attacker needs to destroy most of the base to get all your loot.

Additionally, we’ve arranged them alternately — so even if one side of the base is destroyed, you won’t lose all storages of the same resource. For example, if all Gold Storages were on one side, the attacker could steal almost all your gold by focusing just there. And if we are losing loot, it is better to lose it in a balanced way rather than losing all of the loot of one kind of resource, so we arrange them alternately, much like our base.

Now coming to the placement of the traps,

you’ll notice that the Spring Traps are placed along common Giant paths.

These traps help remove Giants before they can reach the core, reducing the overall strength of Giant-based attacks.

The Bombs are positioned near likely Wall Breaker entry points. Their job is to eliminate Wall Breakers before they can create openings into the base, making it much harder for attackers to get access to the core compartments.

The Air Bombs are placed along common Balloon paths and help weaken air troops before they reach important defenses. This extra damage works perfectly alongside the Air Defense and Archer Towers.

Now coming to the outer buildings, these can be adjusted depending on how active you are in the game.

If you’re very active, you can spread them out more to make enemy funneling more difficult.

If you’re less active, you can keep them closer to the defenses so your collectors remain protected.

Just make sure not to place the same type of collectors together, otherwise attackers could easily take all of that resource from one side.

That’s it for the Base Analysis

One more thing, this base is good enough on its own but make sure you have something in your clan castle for the defense because at lower town halls, defensive clan castle troops are an integral part of the defense, so if you want to boost your success rate, I definitely recommend getting a baby dragon or some valks in your clan castle for defense. that’s it for this post. BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS 

Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 5 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 5 you can get Maximum of 15 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 5 :-

  1. 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers (Recommended)
  2. 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Wizards + 1 Archers
  3. 1 Witch + 3 Archers
  4. 3 Balloons

Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but I highly recommend you to have above-mentioned troops for the best defensive experience at Town Hall 5.
