BASE DESCRIPTION

Hey guys, Dark Barbarian here, and today I’m showcasing a brand-new Town Hall 8 hybrid base. This layout is built to defend your loot while still protecting your trophies, making it a solid option for both loot farming and trophy pushing.
Make sure you stay till the base analysis section of this post, where I’ll explain every building placement in detail and walk you through the thought process behind this design. This will help you clearly understand how the base works and decide whether it’s the right choice for you.
Now, let’s dive into the Base Analysis!

Starting with the Town Hall, it is placed right at the center of the base. This makes it extremely difficult for attackers to reach, helping us protect our trophies while also forcing the opponent to commit a large portion of their army just to secure one star.
One of the strongest features of this base is the number of compartments. The entire layout is divided into small, well-connected sections. This slows down enemy troops significantly and disrupts their pathing.

Troops like Giants, Golems, and Valkyries are forced to break through multiple walls, which wastes time and allows our defenses to continuously deal damage. In many cases, this leads to either a time fail or the attacker running out of troops before reaching the core.
At Town Hall 8, balancing defenses is challenging because we have odd numbers of key defenses, such as three Air Defenses and three Wizard Towers. In this base, they are distributed evenly across different compartments so that no single side of the base is weak.
This balanced spread ensures that attackers cannot easily overpower one direction and must deal with strong defenses no matter where they start their attack from.
Air attacks are very common at Town Hall 8, especially Mass Dragons and MassLoon, so air protection is a top priority in this layout.

All three Air Defenses are placed in separate compartments near the core, making it difficult for attackers to take them all out using Lightning Spells. Even if one Air Defense goes down early, the remaining ones still cover most of the base. The air defenses cover a large portion of the base, providing solid protection against air attacks from all angles.
The Air Sweeper is positioned to push back incoming air troops and disrupt their movement. This slows down Dragons and Balloons, giving our Air Defenses and Archer Towers more time to eliminate them.

The Wizard Towers are placed in different compartments around the base, covering storages and high-traffic areas. Since they deal splash damage to both ground and air troops, this placement is very effective against spam attacks like BARCH, Mass Goblins, and Balloons.
Spacing them out also ensures they don’t get taken out together, keeping splash damage active throughout the attack.

Archer Towers are positioned around the base to provide full 360-degree coverage. Their placement ensures there are no blind spots, making the base strong against both air and ground attacks.

Cannons are spread evenly across the layout to balance ground defense. They work especially well against tanky units like Giants and Hog Riders once splash damage weakens them.

Mortars are placed in compartments where their range covers a large portion of the base. They are extremely effective against groups of low-health troops like barch, gibarch,and mass goblins and help stop fast farming armies early in the attack.

Now coming to storages, they are evenly placed in different compartments, Most inexperienced base designers make the mistake of placing all of the storages in the center and the defenses in the outer compartments. Hence, once the attacker destroys the defenses, they have access to all the loot.
which is not the case in this base because the storages are placed out in several compartments, the attacker must destroy the entire base in order to collect all the loot.
Never place storage of the same type on one side of the base; for example, if we place both gold storage here, the enemy can steal almost all of your gold by just destroying this portion of the base. so in order to avoid that. we place them alternatively, just like this base.

Now coming to the placement of the traps, after observation of so many attacks on this base, spring traps are strategically placed in different compartments according to the pathing of defense attacking troops like hogs and giants, which helps in making this base stronger against ground attacks.
we have placed those bombs out there so that they can take out the wall breakers, which can potentially ruin attackers funnel as the troops wouldn’t be able to go inside the base and they’ll end up going for the outer trash buildings which will end up ruining the attack.
Seeking air mines and air bombs are placed to help the air defences in taking out air troops such as balloons, dragons, baby dragons, and lava hounds.

The outer buildings are spread out evenly around the base to prevent easy funnel creation. Similar buildings are not grouped together, which makes it harder for attackers to clear the outside quickly and saves valuable time on defense.

BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS
Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 8 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 8 you can get Maximum of 25 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 8 :-
- 1 Witch + 3 Wizards + 1 Archers
- 1 Dragon + 1 Wizard + 1 Archer
- 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Witch + 3 Archers
- 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers
- 3 Valkyrie + 1 Archer
Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but i highly recommend you to have above mentioned troops for best defensive experience at Town Hall 8.
