BASE DESCRIPTION

Hey guys, Dark Barbarian here! And we’re building a brand-new Town Hall 4 hybrid base, and I’m confident you’re going to love this one.

I’ve already covered several higher Town Hall bases on the website, so I thought it would be a great idea to come back and design something strong and practical for the lower levels as well. And just like my other hybrid layouts, this base is built to protect both your loot and your trophies at the same time.

Let’s do the Base Analysis!

The first thing you’ll notice is that the Town Hall is placed right in the center, surrounded by multiple defenses. This is extremely important in a hybrid base because the Town Hall is worth one star and also contains loot. By centralizing it, we make it much harder for attackers to grab an easy star.

Right next to the Town Hall, we’ve placed our Mortar. At Town Hall 4, the Mortar is one of the strongest defensive buildings because most attackers rely on spam strategies like BARCH, GiBARCH or mass Goblins. Its splash damage allows it to wipe out groups of low-hitpoint troops quickly. Keeping it protected ensures it survives longer and gets maximum value during defense.

Now coming to the Air Defense, which is very important even at Town Hall 4.

It is placed Right next to the Town Hall so it can be protected and not be taken down easily. Its range covers a large portion of the base, which helps defend against Balloons — one of the biggest threats at this level. With Archer Towers supporting it, air attacks become much harder to execute successfully.

The Archer Towers are positioned in separate compartments across the base, allowing their range to cover almost the entire layout. This ensures protection from both ground and air troops. Since Balloons can be dangerous at TH4, having wide Archer Tower coverage is very important.

The Cannons are placed in a balanced way around the core compartments. Their job is simple: provide consistent single-target damage against ground troops like Giants and Barbarians. Because they’re spread out, attackers cannot take them down all at once.

Now let’s talk about the storages, because this is where smart hybrid design comes in.

You can see that the Gold and Elixir Storages are placed outside the main core compartments. The reason is simple — at Town Hall 4, we don’t have enough walls to protect everything.

So instead of protecting storages directly, we protect our defenses.

However, we didn’t just leave the storages exposed. We placed other buildings in front of the storages, creating a small buffer layer. What this does is force enemy troops to destroy those buildings first before reaching the storages.

While they are distracted clearing those outer buildings, our defenses are continuously attacking them. So even though the storages are technically outside, they are still indirectly protected.

let’s take a look at the placement of the traps,

We don’t have many traps at Town Hall 4, but we’re making the best of what we do have.

The Spring Traps are placed along expected Giant pathing between defenses. Since Giants move directly toward defensive buildings, there’s a very high chance they will trigger these traps and get removed instantly.

We’ve positioned bombs smartly to counter Wall Breakers. They are placed near key wall sections where attackers are most likely to send Wall Breakers to open compartments. This helps protect our core and keeps Giants stuck outside for a longer time. and these bombs also prevent the barch army from stealing the gold and elixir from the storages.

Now coming to the outer buildings. As always in my hybrid designs, the outside buildings are not randomly placed. They are carefully positioned around the base to act as a time-wasting layer. This layer often ruins their funneling and causes their troops to spread around the base instead of moving toward the center.

This outside ring makes the base more annoying to attack and increases the chances of the attacker running out of time — which is exactly what we want.

BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS

Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 4 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 4 you can get Maximum of 15 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 4 :-

  1. 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers (Recommended)
  2. 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Wizards + 1 Archers
  3. 1 Witch + 3 Archers

Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but i highly recommend you to have above-mentioned troops for best defensive experience at Town Hall 4.
