BASE DESCRIPTION

Hey, what’s up, everyone? I’m Dark Barbarian, and welcome back to another post.
In this post, we’re taking a look at a brand-new Town Hall 5 hybrid base. Just like my other hybrid layouts, this base is designed to protect your loot while also helping you maintain your trophies.
If you really want to understand how this base works and why every building is placed where it is, make sure to stick around for the base analysis. Don’t just copy the layout blindly—understanding the strategy behind it will help you defend much better.
Alright, let’s jump into the Base Analysis.
As you can see, the Town Hall is placed right in the center of the base.

We have given it a compartment of its own, which is fairly rare at town hall 5 because of the low number of walls. This is a key rule when designing a hybrid base because the Town Hall holds a decent amount of loot and is worth one star. By keeping it in the core, attackers are forced to push deep into the base, giving your defenses more time to work.
All of the defenses are positioned in a way that ensures balanced coverage from every side, making the base strong no matter where the attack starts.

The Mortar is positioned so that its splash radius covers a large portion of the base. This makes it very effective against spam strategies like BARCH, GiBARCH, and Mass Goblins, as it can take out groups of low-HP troops before they cause serious damage.

The Wizard Tower is the only splash-damage defense at TH5 that can target both ground and air troops. Its placement allows it to support nearby defenses and deal with grouped troops, especially Balloons and swarm attacks.

The Air Defense is a crucial structure at this level. Its range covers most of the base and it can remove around 90% of a Balloon’s health in a single shot. When combined with Archer Towers, it becomes extremely strong against Mass Balloon attacks.
Some attackers might try to use Lightning Spells to take out the Air Defense.
However, at TH5, attackers can only bring two Lightning Spells, and their combined damage is not enough to destroy major defenses like the Air Defense or Wizard Tower. That’s why keeping these defenses in the core is completely safe.

The Archer Towers are placed around the base so that their ranges overlap and cover nearly the entire layout. This provides strong all-around protection against both air and ground troops.

The Cannons are spread evenly throughout the base to defend against ground attacks and to support other defenses during Giant-based strategies.
You might notice a Cannon placed outside the walls.
At Town Hall 5, we don’t get enough walls to enclose everything, so instead of wasting walls, this Cannon is used as a defensive distraction.
When attackers deploy Giants from that side, they’ll target the outside Cannon first since it’s the closest defense. This pulls them away from the core and gives your inner defenses extra time to deal damage.

I’ve also placed the storages apart from one another. Grouping all storages together makes it easy for an attacker to take them all out at once.
By spreading them out, the attacker needs to destroy most of the base to get all your loot.
Additionally, we’ve arranged them alternately — so even if one side of the base is destroyed, you won’t lose all storages of the same resource. For example, if all Gold Storages were on one side, the attacker could steal almost all your gold by focusing just there. And if we are losing loot, it is better to lose it in a balanced way rather than losing all of the loot of one kind of resource, so we arrange them alternately, much like our base.

Now coming to the placement of the traps, we have placed those Spring Traps in the most likely path of Giants to take out a few of them and weaken the push.
Bombs are positioned to target Wall Breakers, which can mess up the attacker’s funnel if they’re eliminated before breaking walls.
Air Bombs are carefully placed after analyzing multiple attacks on this base. They help weaken Balloons before they reach the core, making it easier for Air Defense to finish them off.

Coming to the outer buildings, I’ve avoided placing the same type of collectors next to each other. Many players ignore this and end up grouping all collectors together, making them easy targets.
By spreading them out, attackers are forced to invest more time and troops, which helps your defenses get more value.
That’s it for the Base Analysis
One more thing, this base is good enough on its own but make sure you have something in your clan castle for the defense because at lower town halls, defensive clan castle troops are an integral part of the defense, so if you want to boost your success rate, I definitely recommend getting a baby dragon or some valks in your clan castle for defense. that’s it for this post. BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS
Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 5 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 5 you can get Maximum of 15 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 5 :-
- 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers (Recommended)
- 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Wizards + 1 Archers
- 1 Witch + 3 Archers
- 3 Balloons
Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but I highly recommend you to have above-mentioned troops for the best defensive experience at Town Hall 5.
