BASE DESCRIPTION
Hey everyone, how’s it going, I’m Dark Barbarian, and welcome back to another base-building post! Today, we’re designing a new Town Hall 5 base. Like my other layouts, this one is also a hybrid base, meaning it’s perfect for protecting your loot while keeping your trophies intact. If you really want to understand how this base works, make sure to stick around for the base analysis section of this post. Instead of just copying the layout, it’s always better to understand its design and strategy.
Now, let’s dive into the Base Analysis!
The Town Hall is strategically placed at the center of the base, ensuring maximum protection. This central positioning is key because the Town Hall not only holds a good amount of loot, but is also worth one star, making it a top priority for attackers.
Now, let’s talk about the defenses, They’ve been strategically placed to cover the entire base and ensure it stays strong from all sides.
At Town Hall 5, the key defenses to prioritize are, the mortar, air defense, and wizard tower. These defenses are strategically placed near the center of the base, close to the Town Hall, to provide maximum protection. Some of you might think these defenses can easily be destroyed using lightning spells, but let me clarify: at TH5 players can only use two lightning spells per attack, and their combined damage is not enough to take down any of these defenses. This is why they are grouped together in the core of the base, making them resilient and harder to eliminate.
Let’s start with the mortar. It’s strategically placed on the right side of the base, where its range effectively covers all the defenses as well as the outer buildings on that side. This positioning is crucial for dealing with spam attacks like BARCH, G-BARCH, and mass goblins, as it helps defend against troops trying to breach the base from that direction.
Next, we have the air defense, which has an impressive range that covers a significant portion of the base. At Town Hall 5, it’s a powerhouse, capable of dealing up to 90% damage to a balloon with just one shot. When paired with the Archer Tower, it becomes a deadly combination, making it highly effective against balloon attacks.
Now on to the most important defense in this base the wizard tower. the wizard tower is the only splash damage defense at Townhall 5 that can attack both ground and air troops, its range covers the other main defenses like Air defense and mortar, and other defenses like this archer tower and cannon.
The Archer Towers are strategically positioned around the base in these three corners to ensure their range covers the entire layout, providing solid protection against air attacks from all directions.
The Cannons are placed in the remaining spaces within the base, creating a perfect balance for defense. Their focus on ground units ensures the base is well-guarded against ground-attacking troops.
Now, coming to the storages, they are placed in different compartments, unlike the bases you usually see where most of the storages are placed in a single compartment. storage is placed in a different compartment which means the opponent has to take out the whole base in order to get all the loot.
We’ve also placed the storages alternatively, so that even if the opponent takes out this portion of the base, we don’t lose all the storages of the same kind of resources, for example, if we put all the gold storages on this side of the base, the attacker can take almost all your gold just by taking out this portion of the base. and if we are losing the loot, it’s better to lose it in a balanced way rather than losing all the loot of one kind of resource, so to avoid that, we place them alternatively, just like our base.
Now coming to the placement of the traps, we have placed those spring traps there for taking out some giants when someone attacks from these sides.
and those bombs out there, so that they can take out the wall breakers, which can potentially ruin attackers’ funnel as the troops wouldn’t be able to go inside the base, and they’ll end up going for the outer trash buildings which will end up ruining the attack.
Those air bombs are placed there, after observation of so many attacks on this base and they reduce the health of balloons which directly helps our air defense.
Now, let’s talk about the outer buildings. I’ve placed them in an alternating pattern, avoiding grouping the same type of collectors too close to each other. Many players overlook the importance of outer building placement and end up clustering similar collectors together. This makes them an easy target for attackers. By spreading them out, it becomes much harder for opponents to take them down efficiently, giving your base better overall protection.

BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS
Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 5 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 5 you can get Maximum of 15 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 5 :-
- 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers (Recommended)
- 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Wizards + 1 Archers
- 1 Witch + 3 Archers
- 3 Balloons
Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but I highly recommend you to have above-mentioned troops for the best defensive experience at Town Hall 5.
