BASE DESCRIPTION
Hey everyone, it’s Dark Barbarian, and in this post, we’re building a brand-new Town Hall 4 base. This one’s a hybrid base, which means it’s designed to protect both your loot and your trophies. Even though the storages are on the outside, most of your loot will still be safe, I’ll explain why in the base analysis section of this post, so look in the base analysis for that—it’ll give you a clear understanding of how this base works and answer any questions you might have.
Let’s do the Base Analysis!
Let’s start by talking about the storages and why I’ve placed them outside. At Town Hall 4, we don’t have enough walls to fit both storages and defenses inside the base. So, you have to make a choice: protect your defenses or protect your storages.
Most beginners think they should protect their loot and place storages inside, but that’s not the smartest move. If your defenses are left outside, they’ll be taken out easily, leaving your storages completely unguarded. Instead, placing defenses inside allows them to protect your storages by eliminating attacking troops while the storages act as tanks, buying your defenses time with their high hit points.
That doesn’t mean we’re giving away our loot for free, I’ve placed trash buildings near the storages to act as a distraction for enemy troops, Attackers will have to clear those buildings before reaching the storages, giving our defenses enough time to take them down. I’ve done this on all sides of the base, so no matter where the opponent attacks from, they’ll face the same obstacles.
At the core, we’ve placed the Town Hall, which is the most critical building, Not only does it contain a decent amount of loot, but it’s also worth one star in every attack, By placing it in the center, surrounded by layers of defenses, we make it incredibly difficult for attackers to reach and destroy it, especially for opponents at the lower Town Hall levels.
Right next to the Town Hall, we’ve placed the mortar in its own compartment. This placement allows the mortar to cover almost the entire base, making it highly effective against spam attacks like Barch (Barbarians and Archers) or mass Goblins. The splash damage from the mortar is vital at Town Hall 4, as it can wipe out groups of low-hitpoint troops in seconds, ensuring that attackers don’t get far.
We’ve positioned the Archer Towers at strategic spots where their range covers the entire base. This ensures that no side is left vulnerable to air attacks, At Town Hall 4, air troops like Balloons can be devastating if your air defenses aren’t well-placed, so having the Archer Towers spread out evenly provides excellent coverage, These towers also double as support for ground defense, making them one of the most versatile structures in this layout.
The Air-defense is placed inside a secure compartment near the town hall, ensuring it’s well-protected from early attacks. Its range covers a large portion of the base, making it incredibly effective at taking down Balloons or healer, which are common at this level.
The cannons are positioned at critical choke points around the base, ensuring that they can provide consistent ground defense. They’re placed in such a way that their range overlaps, This setup makes it harder for ground troops like Giants to survive for long.

BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS
Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 4 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 4 you can get Maximum of 15 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 4 :-
- 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers (Recommended)
- 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Wizards + 1 Archers
- 1 Witch + 3 Archers
Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but i highly recommend you to have above-mentioned troops for best defensive experience at Town Hall 4.
