Hello, Dark BarBarian here, and today we’re creating a new Town Hall 9 hybrid base that I’m sure you’ll like. This base is an upgraded version of the th8 base layout that I made a few years ago, and you guys liked it so much, so I decided to remake it for th9 with some changes. Don’t forget to read the base analysis part, in which I’ll break down the base so you can understand why I’m putting certain buildings in specific spots.
Let’s do the Base Analysis!
Townhall, as you can see, is well secured in the core portion of the base, exactly like my previous hybrid base designs, because it is crucial to keep it safe and secure because it is worth one star and houses a good quantity of resources.
Let us now discuss compartments, which plays a very important role at higher town halls by wasting opponents’ time and causing time fail. Opponents may break through one wall using a wall breaker, but there are so many compartments in this base that opponents’ troops such as golems and giants gets stuck on walls all the time.
When it comes to defenses, they are positioned in such a way that they protect the whole base and keep it strong from all sides.
Mortars start losing their importance as we start moving higher town hall levels, so there is no point in keeping them well protected in the center as they don’t provide much protection in return. we have placed them more towards the outer part of the base so that they can help us in countering spam attacks like BARCH, Mass Goblins, etc, They too are evenly placed and they’re positioned in such a way that they pretty much cover the entire base.
The wizard towers are the only splash damage buildings at Townhall 9 that can target both ground and air troops, therefore we’ve separated them into different compartments to prevent them from being destroyed at once by using lightning spells and to offer splash damage coverage to the range which they have covered. They are positioned in such a way that they protect both the major defenses in the core and the defenses on the outside of the base.
Archer towers are situated in such a way that their range spans the whole base, ensuring that the base is adequately protected against air attacks from all sides.
Air defenses are separated into individual compartments to prevent them from being destroyed by lightning spells in a group. They are put in compartments in the center of the base, and they are nicely coupled with air sweepers, which contributes to increased defense against air attacks such as lava loons and mass dragons.
Cannons are placed right where they are needed providing the overall balance to the base and making this base perform pretty well against ground attacks.
The Xbows are well protected in the central compartment in such a way that they provide protection to our majority of defenses, their range covers a large portion of the buildings within the walls, we’ve set them on both ground and air as we want protection against both air and ground attacks, the fact that they are placed right in the core of the base makes it difficult for opponents to reach them and they are usually the last defenses to be taken out.
The bomb tower is the ultimate protection against hog, giant, and miner armies since it acts as a trap by attracting defense attacking troops and dealing significant damage to those troops once destroyed. As a result, we can put pressure on opponents to utilize their heal spells early in the battle, leaving them with nothing to help their troops in the final minutes.
Now, coming to the storages, they are placed in different compartments, unlike the bases you usually see where most of the storages are placed in a single compartment. each storage is placed in a different compartment that means the opponent has to take out the whole base in order to get all the loot.
We’ve also placed the storages alternatively, so that even if the opponent takes out this portion of the base, we don’t lose all the storages of the same kind of resources, for example, if we put all the gold storages on this side of the base, the attacker can take almost all your gold just by taking out this portion of the base. and if we are losing the loot, it’s better to lose it in a balanced way rather than losing all the loot of one kind of resource, so to avoid that, we place them alternatively, just like our base.
The dark elixir storage is well protected in the compartment in the core of the base, so it’s quite well protected. We’ve also kept all of our dark elixir drills inside as carelessly throwing them anywhere outside of the base can definitely hurt your dark elixir farming process as opponents can easily steal it.
In terms of trap placement, after observing numerous attacks on this base, spring traps and giant bombs are carefully placed in different compartments based on the pathing of defense attacking troops such as hogs and giants, so making this base more resistant to ground attacks.
All four Teslas are located in different compartments but near the center of the base, and the range of the Teslas protects the storages as well as the other defenses, which greatly contributes to the strength of this base. Seeking air mines and air bombs are put near air defenses to aid in the annihilation of air troops such as balloons, dragons, baby dragons, and lava hounds.
Now coming to the outer buildings you can customize where you want to put them according to your choice, if you are quite active and play regularly you can spread them out more to make the funnel trickier as you wouldn’t have to worry about people stealing your loot from outer collectors, as you’ll be collecting loot from them regularly, but if you are not that active you can do it the way I made it, as you won’t have to worry about stealing your loot as they’ll be in the range of defenses, it’s up to you, just make sure you don’t put the same type of collectors all together, otherwise, the opponent will take all your loot in the collectors very easily

BEST DEFENSIVE CLAN CASTLE TROOPS COMBINATIONS
Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 9 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 9 you can get Maximum of 30 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 9 :-
- 1 Electro Dragon (Recommended)
- 1 Baby Dragon + 2 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard
- 1 Golem
- 1 Witch + 4 Wizards + 2 Archers
- 1 Lava Hound
- 1 Dragon + 2 Wizard + 2 Archer
Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but i highly recommend you to have above mentioned troops for best defensive experience at Town Hall 9.
