Hey guys I’m dark barbarian, welcome to another base building post, today are making a new Town hall 5 hybrid base, I’ve done one recently, but I want you guys to have more options to choose from, so that you can easily switch to other if one doesn’t work for you, this base too is a hybrid base just like my other base layouts which means that you’ll be able to save your loot while maintaining trophies, to know more about how this base works, make sure you go through the base analysis part of the post where we do a complete breakdown of the base, so that instead of just copying blindly, you can understand how this base actually works. so I’ll see you guys after the base analysis.

Let’s do the Base Analysis!

now some of you might have a problem with this cannon on why it’s placed outside, well, its because at town hall 5 you don’t get enough walls to keep all the storages and defenses inside but placing this cannon outside isn’t necessarily a bad thing, on the contrary, I’d say its a good feature of this base,

actually, as we move to higher town halls most people use this feature on their bases because it kinda ruins attackers plan, for example, if an opponent wants to attack from this side, instead of going for this side, giant go for the cannon as this is closest defenses they can get to,

while they’ll be going for that cannon, all the defenses on this side will be targeting them, After destroying the cannon, the Giant will go to the mortar, on their way to the mortar, they’ll step on this spring trap that will eliminate some of the giants, so you can see how opponent wanted to attack from this side but ended up losing some of his giants and having to continue attack from the side he didn’t plan to attack.

what this does is, bring uncertainty to the attack, as opponents’ troops aren’t going where they want them to go, this can potentially lead to panic by the attacker and eventually a fail attack.

now move forward,

As u guys can see, Townhall is well protected in the central part of the base just like my other hybrid base designs because it is important to keep it safe and secure as it is worth one star and has a decent amount of loot in it.

now coming to the defenses,

the main defense at townhall 5 are mortar, wizard tower, and air defense.

mortar is placed in a separate compartment from where its range covers the upper part of the base and also covers the other defenses.

Mortar is placed in this compartment of the base because we want it to protect us against spam attacks like BARCH and mass goblins.

The wizard tower is the only splash damage buildings we have at Townhall 5 that can attack both ground and air troops so we have placed it in the central part of the base to protect it from the enemy and its range covers the other main defenses like mortar and air defense and also covers other defense like this cannon and this archer tower,

next time when you are making a base yourself or you get it from somewhere else, make sure to check how many defenses are the wizard tower covering in their range, if its barely covering 1 or 2 defenses, then you may want to reconsider their placement.

our other main defense, our air defense placed in the core of the base and its range covers nearly the whole base,

This is the first defense that air attackers at townhall 5 wants to break so that we placed it well protected compartment in the core of the base.

Archer towers are arranged in such a way that their range covers the whole base, which means the base is well secured against air attacks from all the sides,

Archer Towers combined with air defense and wizard tower make this base beasts against air attacks

Cannons are placed right where they are needed providing the overall balance to the base and making this base perform pretty well against ground attacks.

Now, coming to the storages, they are placed in different compartments, unlike the bases you usually see where most of the storages are placed in a single compartment. each storage is placed in a different compartment that means the opponent has to take out the whole base in order to get all the loot.

We’ve also placed the storages alternatively, so that even if the opponent takes out this portion of the base, we don’t lose all the storages of the same kind of resources, for example, if we put all the gold storages on this side of the base, the attacker can take almost all your gold just by taking out this portion of the base. and if we are losing the loot, it’s better to lose it in a balanced way rather than losing all the loot of one kind of resource, so to avoid that, we place them alternatively, just like our base.

Now coming to the placement of the traps, we have placed those spring traps there for taking out some giants when someone attacks from these sides. and those bombs out there so that they can take out the wall breakers, which can potentially ruin attackers funnel as the troops wouldn’t be able to go inside the base and they’ll end up going for the outer trash buildings which will end up ruining the attack. those air bombs are places there after observation of so many attacks on this base as they reduce the health of balloons which directly helps our air defense and wizard tower.

Now coming to the outer buildings you can customize where you want to put them according to your choice, if you are quite active and play regularly you can spread them out more to make the funnel trickier as you wouldn’t have to worry about people stealing your loot from outer collectors, as you’ll be collecting loot from them regularly, but if you are not that active you can do it the way I made it, as you won’t have to worry about stealing your loot as they’ll be in the range of defenses, it’s up to you, just make sure you don’t put the same type of collectors all together, otherwise, the opponent will take all your loot in the collectors very easily

One more thing, this base is good enough on its own but make sure you have something in your clan castle for the defense because at lower town halls, defensive clan castle troops are an integral part of the defense, so if you want to boost your success rate, I definitely recommend getting a baby dragon or some valks in your clan castle for defense.

Using clan castle troops for defending your base is highly recommended as they can put the attacker in trouble by distracting them. Even though the base alone is sufficient to stop most of the attacks used by Town Hall 5 attackers, using the clan castle can help a lot. At Town Hall 5 you can get Maximum of 15 housing space in your clan castle, here are some of my recommendations for CC troops combinations for defense at Town Hall 5 :-

  1. 1 Valkyrie + 1 Wizard + 3 Archers (Recommended)
  2. 1 Baby Dragon + 1 Wizards + 1 Archers
  3. 1 Witch + 3 Archers
  4. 3 Balloons

Since most people can’t get these troops from their clans, you can also use other troop combinations which are easily available like all wizards, all balloons or any other troop combination but i highly recommend you to have above-mentioned troops for best defensive experience at Town Hall 5.

  2. Deadly Traps in the central compartment
  3. Centered and well-protected Town hall 
  4. Air Defense is well protected
  5. Storages are well protected away from one another
  6. Perfect Spring traps placement
  7. Bomb well defend against wall breakers
  8. Great against ground and air attacks
  9. Optimal for Farming and Trophy Pushing
  10. Archer Towers cover the whole base
